Is this the little boy at play? I don't remember getting older....when did they?

After forcing ourselves to leave the ocean, we headed for Virginia Beach and a visit with our son, Mike. It takes strategic planning to spend time with the kids anymore. Mike is back in school and working. We managed a couple of good evenings and one day between classes to take him for a grocery shopping trip....Mom can't stand to see "empty" cupboards...LOL

Salt cooked a delicious steak dinner the last night we were there. He bought some sweet corn, and it was soooo good, he went out to Wal Mart at midnight to get 36 ears to bring to Owego for a family cookout. Hope it's as good after a days ride!

And here we are on the road, ready to roll on into Owego and last stop St. Lawrence River!

Hey I'm just lookin for a good time.......

Well, with great difficulty, I was able to capture a shot of "All That"....it is still not too clear; these guys just don't hold still. They are SO good and even did some Celtic dancing last night....

A great job with Carrie Underwood's Cowboy Casanova....

A little Keith Urban...You Look Good in My Shirt....

Right before this guy came on stage, they showed a clip from the Grand Ole Opry, where he performed at the age of 7. His name is Louie Robbins, and although no relation, sounded an awful lot like Marty Robbins.....good performance!

If you look close, you will see the MC trying to wipe the tears from his eyes. This was "Miss Pearl", celebrating her 93rd birthday at the Opry....(the male comedienne) he had that whole audience in tears and side splitting pain!!

More laughs.....

Run "GMC"....Elvis songs done to Bluegrass....Some good Gospel music....

Hey, White Liar....

The amazing talents of the three pianists....they all played together, changing places, crossing over their hands....unbelievable!!

This was the funniest skit of the night....Presidential Jeopardy with Lincoln, Bush and Obama.Being a country show, it may have been just a BIT conservative...ha ha

I'm pickin up good vibrations.....

We LOVE the shows here in Myrtle Beach!! After looking through all the brochures, we had a hard decision between our two favorite choices; Good Vibrations (which we have never seen) and The Carolina Opry. We attended the Carolina Opry 3 years ago, and even though we knew it would be a whole new program, we chose Good Vibrations....We were not disappointed!
The program was a tribute to the music of the 60's, 70's and 80's blended with some very good comedy. The singers and musicians are the same ones who perform at the Opry. O yes and my favorite of the whole program....."All That" which is the tap dancers who were the National stars of NBC's America's Got Talent". They dance SO fast, it was impossible to get a picture that wasn't blurry....I will get one tomorrow though, by hook or by crook!!

The Ronnetts big hit da do run run.....

And a little "KISS...

Some Led Zeppelin.....House of the Holy
Quite a bit of the Beatles.....

Gary Puckett's Young Girl...
John Denver's Thank God I'm aCountry Boy
Great comedy from Cheech and Chong.....like yeah man..
I never get tired of the antics once performed by the "Blues Brothers"......
Comedy from the Blue Oyster Cult.....
A little music from Hair....
And of course Tina Turner's Proud Mary.....
And of course everyone was out of their seats doing the Y-M-C-A, made famous by the "Village People".....
And of course; I saved the best til last. The MC came out and said he had three sets of tickets for the Carolina Opry (the other show we wanted to see) to give away and he needed 3 "Baby Boomers" to come forward. Of course, I jumped out of my seat and raised my hand, along with about 200 others (the show was sold out). Hurrrah, I got picked. Of course when I got up there he said, "oh come on you all know there is no free lunch....you are going to have to answer a few questions"..... The three categories were: Sports, TV and Cars (all 60s trivia). I was the last to get to pick since I was the last one to the front of the auditorium. Fortunately, my category ended up being "cars". All those old car shows paid off; I won the tickets!! Since they were $100 value, I was very excited....of course if you didn't know the answer he let the audience help out and I would have won anyway....LOL
And now back to NY....an update on the Boyer family....I can't wait to meet little Lindsey. She is the cutest little baby, and Kelly has been so great with keeping us all updated with current pictures.
Of course, I also need to put in an update on my precious little Emma....here she is at her art show and her second place "Penciled Owl"....

If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air......

It's been way too hard to come off the beach and do any computer posting.....

Salt and I left Florida last Monday and traveled right to South Carolina and our favorite beach resort, Ocean Lakes.
As soon as we parked the motor home and plugged her in....we headed for Crabby Mike's, a restaurant we visit every time we stop in Myrtle.

And this is why.....ALL the crab legs you can or want to eat.

After a good night's sleep, we were up early Tuesday morning for a long walk on the beach. The weather is phenomenal.....nice and warm but with a nice breeze to keep one cool!! We have been doing some body surfing in the ocean.

I am a little wind blown after an evening stroll.....

Some pretty talented kids doing some sand sculptures.....
I stole Terry's recipe for a Southwest Explosion and have been enjoying lots of fresh salads.....

Salt shopping for a new board.....

and this is where you go to do "laps".....however, I did sneak into the inside pool for a few.

We did the Texas Roadhouse for dinner last night and are watching the first series of "Big Love", a disc per evening.

Tonight, we are headed for a live show...Good Vibrations...music from the 60's 70's and 80's. Should be a good show....and yes, my camera is packed!

My best days are ahead of me.....

Salt and I leave Florida a week from today...:( I really hate leaving this beautiful weather and heading into the cold. We have reservations at Ocean Lakes (Myrtle Beach) for three nights, will be at Virginia Beach for three nights and in Owego for 2 nights. We will then head back to Clayton, where I will stay on the mainland for 3-4 days while Salt goes to the island and opens the house.

Wednesday, we joined the Muldoons and the Medleys for a day at New Smyrna Beach.....it was WONDERFUL!!! We took a picnic lunch.....

and totally vegged!!!

Salt and I took a quick trip to Rennigers, to pick up a "pink" cowgirl hat to match Emma's pink boots. She is very excited about the Alan Jackson concert and already planning her outfit.
Activities are winding down here, as we are preparing for the trip home. We did however, buy a lot in Hawthorne at Leesburg. We have a house picked out and have been furniture shopping.
We are heading back to Plant City tomorrow to take measurements and pick out carpet, counters, flooring, etc. We are not putting the order in until we sell the house on Grindstone.
Right now we are just getting our ducks in a row so when the house does sell, we can just make some phone calls.

I'm gonna miss that smile...I'm gonna miss you my friend...

Today the world lost a kind and talented young man....RIP Keith Brabant....what a tragedy!

I love this crazy tragic, sometimes almost magic...awful, beautiful life..

Today 16 of us headed for Daytona and a luncheon cruise on the StarLite Princess Authentic Paddlewheeler www.StarLiteDiningCruises.com . Another beautiful day, with lots of sunshine!!
I don't want to go back North and lose my tan :( (but I do want to see all my kids!!)

Boarding the ship.....
The tour was good....the food, not so great.....

I told you and I were out "house hunting"....what do you think?? Yeah right! This is a mansion that was being built by a Daytona doctor and his wife. Before the house was completed, the doctor was in a small plane crash and was killed. His wife had the house finished and it is now for sale for somewhere between $14-16 million.....

This ship was actually propelled by the paddle wheels. Many times, on these tours they are just for show......
After dinner and the information part of the cruise, the captain invited anyone who wanted, to come up and take the wheel....since no one else did, I figured I would, just so his feelings wouldn't be hurt....LOL
Off hand, I would say Jim was enjoying the day!!!
and so were we!!!
Terry and Sue.....
LeRoy and Kathy....

Gordie and Carol......
Gene and Ruth....

After the cruise we drove over to the Canaveral National Seashore. It is one of the most beautiful, serene beaches in the area. We didn't have a lot of time today, so we plan to go back over on Wednesday with a picnic lunch and our beach chairs....
Terry, strolling barefoot.....
A Stingray that washed up on the beach....urgh, they remind me of a bat!!
I hope I can get this guy back up North for a couple of months.....
Florida is bursting with wildflowers, and they are SO beautiful!!

Pelicans in flight......
