It's lonely out in space on such a timeless flight.....

Our friends Ruth and Gene Starcher's son (Joe) and grandson (Alex) are visiting for a week. We were invited to join them for a trip to the Kennedy Space Center, something Salt and i have been going to do since we settled in Florida.

Here, Joe and Alex grab a photo opportunity.

I took SO many pictures, but again need to pick and choose which ones to blog. Some of them were taken from the bus, which had tinted windows and others I could not use a flash so the quality might not be all that good.

This building has the largest NASA sign and the largest painted flag in the world.....we had a bus driver who was very knowledgeable but also loved trivia.

This is one of the launch pads the rocket is on the pad and ready for the next launch. This picture was taken from a mile away. This is as close as you can get, but they have a model that you can get a better idea of how it all comes down.

One of the buses we took on the tour.

This was my very favorite part of the day....just as we were going into this exhibit and movie, I mentioned how excited we were at IBM (back when I was working there) when the Apollo VIII was being launched. It was loaded with IBM computers and was a real test....We walked into the movie theater and Salt said...."there's your IBM smocks". Low and behold there were 3 blue IBM smocks hanging on the chairs in "mission control". It was like deja vu and all the memories of that time in my life flashed before me like it was yesterday. It was freaky but SO cool!!

The picture is lousy because I couldn't use a flash.....
It all seems like yesterday....where did the time go????

it was so amazing to see these rockets up close.....the engines were so BIG....
The Lunar Lander looks like it's made out of fancy tin foil....

The Lunar Rover.....

and a moon rock.....
These are all parts to be attached to the space station. The charts on all the different countries who are participating and what parts they provide was very interesting.

Bathroom aboard the space station...fun with gravity.
One of the many alligators we saw on the grounds. Our driver claims there are over 5,000 on the space center property.

Robots.....
Alex and Joe.....

A collection of the earlier rockets.....

Our last stop....the Astronaut Hall of Fame.
Salt trying to land the shuttle.....whoops, there goes $$$$$$$$$ crash and burn!!!

and Gene taking his turn..... I think if I travel in space I will go with Jim!!!
