Oh it's 50 miles to Kennebunkport...as the crow flys...and if I were a crow, that's the way I'd go..

Well, today we found the Trolley "wannabe" (as the guys at the trolley museum call the gas powered trolley) and had a beautiful informative tour around Kennebunkport, ME. It is a most charming little New England town right on the coast.
I love their street signs....you see them all over the town.
Where the wooden sidewalk ends the brick one begins......

The flowers were so beautiful....especially for this late in the season!

There are shops and boutiques up and down the streets. This one must certainly be owned by a 60's "flower child".....

The buildings are beautiful and so well preserved.....

This is the Franciscan Monastery....

the shrine on the monastery grounds.....

The waves from "Igor" made for some good surfing, even in the 60 degree ocean. Lots of wet suits!

We took a lunch break and enjoyed some famous (and delicious) lobster rolls....

This is St. Ann's Chapel...frequented by the Bush family.

Right up the road is the summer home of George and Barbara Bush....aka/President 41.
This is the guardhouse.

Secret Service quarters...

and the main house. The family was just returning from church as we stopped, so we did get a glimpse of them.....
The Bush boat leaving their dock....

This is Charlie....he comes daily to visit the painter (below)....absolutely no fear!

After leaving Kennebunkport, we took a drive through Ogunquit and stopped at this roadside market. We have been getting wonderful fruits and vegetables along the side of the roads.

Tomorrow morning we will be heading out and making the trip to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor. We will be staying about a week before moving on.
