Here we board the "Doodlebug". Our driver was a retired Navy man who gave the tours strictly as a volunteer.
This angel statue is called the "Resurrection Angel", and folklore has it that she changes the direction of her head. Until as recently as about 15 years ago, it was a rite of passage to tie young boys to the statue on their 16th birthday and they would have to spend the night in the "haunted" cemetery. Finally the town put an end to the tradition. Our guide said he has taken hundreds of pictures after dark and they are filled with orbs. I LOVE these stories!!!
First Presbyterian Church of Florida.....
SO old and yet so well preserved.

This was the house of the first pastor....

When we left St. Mary's we headed for the Okefenokee Swamp...
This animated mannequin was so realistic. He would rock back and forth as he told the history of the swamp he kept turning his head and you would swear he was looking right at you when he spoke.
We had planned on taking the 9 minute boat ride down the swamp, hoping to see as much wildlife as we could and to learn more about the swamp. We purchased our tickets before we went into the museum but about 10 minutes before we were to board it started pouring so it was cancelled. Another time....
Arrived home around 8:30 pm last night. Other than a little grocery shopping, I actually stayed home and caught up on some paperwork.

A visit to the Submarine Museum
I will never understand how anyone could dive in something this heavy!!!
We saw so many armadillos routing around by the side of the road.
