I'm watching you go from room to room...with all your boxes and your broom!

Just returned from dinner at the Adamson's. Jim once again cooked one of his spectacular meals (Mexican). He has also perfected his "home made ice cream". He cracks me up....this recipe really was rocket science! He went on the Internet and found all the correct formulas for making ice cream that wouldn't crystallize. I couldn't tell you exactly how he did it but I can tell you he could compete with Ben and Jerry!!

I spent the day packing up the groceries, paperwork and odds and ends we will be taking for the winter. Other than that it was a pretty mundane day!

I will be packing up the computer tomorrow and am not sure how much blogging I will be able to do at the State Park. I don't think they have wireless. I will probably go to the coffee shop in town to check my mail and pay first of the month bills but not sure how often that will happen.

If your life's berserk but golf is too much work....CROQUET

Things are starting to wind down here on the island...at least for me. I hired Betty to help Salt and myself get the trees we had cleared, cut up, split and stacked for next spring. Since Betty had not been able to attend any of the "Coffee Hours" (this was her first summer not working full time since she was 16) we slipped over to Jerry Couch's for what will be my last coffee clutch of the season .

Here, Betty (middle) poses with Karen LaShomb (left) and Janet Gregware.

L to R....Diane Brabant, Elaine Brooks, Sue Smith, Joan Flint, Janice McPhail, Phylis Schwartz and Nancy Aquadro

L to R....Janet Ennis, Yuvonne Marra, Annie Couch, Bev Davison, MiMi Durdon, Jerry Couch, Joan Luce and Frances Rossmassler

Later in the evening we went to the foot of the island to the home of our good friends Tom Tinney, Julie and Paige Durdon. The name of the game was....Croquet and Tom's birthday!

Here Salt and Peter Rossmassler get serious....(???)

Paige was having the time of her life....we all thank her for all of her effort in decorating, baking the birthday cake and helping her mom prepare all the food!

Julie welcomes Diane and Tom Brabant......

The playing field......

Tom with his birthday cake, lovingly made by Paige!

And last but not least....a sight not too many people get to see....Tom relaxing!!

I'm off the island today for doctor's appointments (annual check-up) and will start packing up for the mainland. I have more appointments Tuesday morning and then in the afternoon we are having new tires put on the motor home. When we are finished with the tires we will set up in Grasse Point State Park and I will be staying on the mainland getting the rig set up and stocked while Salt closes the house here on the island.

We are planning to get an evening in with my brother George and his wife Cheryl and then I am ready to hit the road. We are really getting anxious to see Mike and the family again....we miss them!!

But I want to hear it as I walk along...to hear that Sunset Song

These 3 pictures were taken within 5 minutes of each other.....the ever changing, ever magnificent Canadian sunsets!!!

I'm going mad for an arm wrestling girl.....

Today was a crazy day....Three of my girlfriends and myself were going to ride our jet skis to Kingston, Ontario for lunch and a day of shopping. Didn't happen....came downstairs and Salt had put a fire in the wood stove. I looked at the rough river and it was a quick decision....NOT going to happen today.

Ellen returned from Va after spending a week at home catching up on appointments and getting Daniel back to school. She popped in for coffee and we caught up on all the happenings.

Debbie and Steve Donaldson along with Phil Marra stopped into see the house. They had not seen it since it was completed. As they were leaving, Rex and Lauren Ennis arrived....Lauren to snitch the last of the lemon cookies.

Jim and Ellen over for dinner and then Matt arrived and actually dared to challenge Ellen to an arm wrestling match. He never did get her down....he says just because he didn't want to hurt her.....I don't know, I am not convinced!!

Matt started college on Monday and is loving being back to school!!

Cause everybody loves a party song...

Sunday morning I volunteered (or did Janet Ennis volunteer me???) to bake for coffee hour and clean up after. I took the now famous Monkey Bread, and for all of you who have asked for the recipe I will have a bunch printed out after church next Sunday.

The Charge Conference was also held last Sunday. I vowed I would never serve on the "Board" again but was persuaded to serve on the "Nominating Committee" for 2009.

Sunday evening we were invited to dinner at the home of Bill and Gwen Taylor....Their new home was built by the same contractor (Kevin Garnsey) who built ours. We all feel he is the BEST in the area....Gwen has nicknamed him "Michelangelo".

Their River view is beautiful....here is Sunday's sunset.....

Guests also included Peter and Frances Rossmassler.....

Gwen preparing her gourmet meal.....YUM

Yesterday Betty and Frank celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary....

Congratulations!!!
Last night I ventured down to Pine Rock Lodge to attend a cocktail party held by Craig Turrisi.
Salt did not attend as he worked up until 15 minutes before it was to start.
Carolyn Bazinet poses with Craig.....Both Carolyn's and Craig's first appearance on the "blog"!
Bubby Bazinet with Sally Boss....Check out the wind and winter coats....in August!

David Taylor....hmmm looks like he is thinking up one of his zingers!!

Doreen Meeks and Clara Carnegie....holding up losing signs since Doreen(who it seems is always a winner) lost at cards the night before....BIG time. I promised not to put in the score....

You can't even run your own life...I'll be damned if you'll run mine

Don't you just love it when people who really have no right interfering in other people's problems and never have all their facts correct ...jump right in and want to be the "savior"!

I guess after talking to several friends, many of whom have been targeted in the past, I just have to remember some people don't seem to have a life unless they are involved in everyone problems. The funny part is no one in particular was pointed out....I guess we are all just screwed up....them being the exception!

There are times in every one's life when there are family problems, problems with neighbors, problems with children and problems with organizations. As one of my very wise girlfriends once said...."unless you are invited into some one's problems you shouldn't visit them".

It did remind me of a passage I recently read and think I will include it in my meeting preps. Since we all run into these twerps, I thought I would share it.....

There comes a point in your life when you realize:
-who matters
-who never did
-who won't anymore
-and who always will
So don't worry about people from your past....there's a reason they didn't make it into your future!!
author unknown

I think it is going to be an interesting winter watching a bunch of these incidents unfold....sure glad I will be watching from a distance!

OK....now that I have had my little rant I will post about the people in my life who do matter!!!

Let the memory live again.......

After viewing the anniversary blog, my niece Kate commented that she vaguely remembered the wedding, as she was so young. She did say however, that she seemed to remember something about Alice (her sister) having a whole bunch of gum. So Kate, this will jog your memory. Your dad bought Alice about 20 packs of gum to bribe her to walk down the isle.

It is so funny you remember that. I hope it isn't something that will in later years put you on a psychiatrist's couch because you didn't get any!!!!

You did however, get lots of loving from Aunt Kitty!! Look how little you were!

And here is Alice getting ready for the big walk......

and Alice and Marcus today still enjoying the river!

Riparian Cocktails???

Thursday evening was "Riparian Cocktails" at the Ennis/Sarti residence.....and yes, I had to look up the word Riparian!

Shirley and David Taylor listen to one of Peter's tall tales......

My crazy, fun, loving friends....

Kelly Ennis and Patsy Parker

You have to know where Mt Dora is to appreciate Fred's shirt....it's a very small TOWN in FL
where Fred lives and about 6 miles from our new place. I'm not really sure why Art Couch is sticking out his chest....there was nothing on his shirt to read. Maybe....one to many Riparian Cocktails?????

all princes start as frogs.....

Thursday was so hectic, I am going to break it into two separate posts.
Betty dropped Emma off at our house at 8:00, as she was headed to Watertown to take advantage of "Teacher's Day" at CJ Banks, and pick up some new school (teaching) clothes.

Emma and I headed off to the coffee hour held at the Carriage House.

Brenda Luce, who has become a regular.....
Sue Smith decided to humor us with a comparison between Martha Stewart and Maxine....funny!!

It was the last day of the schoolhouse program so my intention was to drop Em off and head on home for some paperwork. After we arrived we found out that Sarah Walsh from Save the River was giving a presentation on "frogs". I decided to follow the kids to the beach because I thought it might be a good photo op....it was!
Here are some of the kids loaded in the back of a pick-up truck ready for the trip to Potter's Beach.

Emma was excited to learn that she could still catch frogs if she did it properly and it was a catch and release program. Sarah explained to them that they needed to make sure their hands were wet before catching them, how to handle them, etc.

It was amazing how attentive the kids were including little 3 year old Phin (William Par Brown).
Sarah was tickled when he was actually able to answer the questions she asked.

Here is Emma as she begins to wade into one of the many frog ponds.....

and precious little Phin as he attempted to get his catch......

and of course Emma had to cover herself in mud.....she says she does it because she doesn't want to get wrinkles. I told her if that REALLY worked, Grandma would be right in there with her!!

Elsbeth sent cupcakes with a variety of frostings and decorations so the kids could decorate their own. It was a huge success!!

Here are a couple of Avery (Par Brown) and Emma's catches.........

and little Phin, not wanting to be left out of the picture displayed a stone that he tried to pass off as a frog......

lots of swim time for all.......

and of course I can't sign off without a picture of little "Kitty".....God I love that child!!!!!

and here are the Par Brown children going home....Emma and I were behind on them on the 4 wheeler....little Phin waved the entire way home. What an asset their family is to the island!
