Today was a big day for the children on the island. Urch and Harry Slate came up with the idea of putting a playground back on the schoolhouse lawn. Urch started a fund raiser in memory of Frank Augusbury and in no time had raised enough to purchase a "pirate ship".
JR Rusho volunteered his barge for transportation across the river.....

It arrived at the schoolhouse amidst the shouts of joy from the kids....

After finding the perfect spot for it.....

The parts and pieces were assembled......
and the kids were turned loose .........They were all very excited about appearing on the local 6:00 news. I went up to Betty's to watch it with Emma....she was ecstatic as she appeared 3 times!!!

And I couldn't resist adding this picture of one of my favorite little girls.....Her name is none other than "Kitty" Par Brown (held by her mother Elsbeth) What a charmer!!!
Look at that impish little smile.....I am sure she can live up to the name!!!
