Yesterday, while on our city tour of San Antonio, our guide told us if we were headed to Houston, to stop in the small town of Schulenburg, and check out the "Painted Churches". None of us really knew what we were looking for and were quite disappointed when we pulled up to St. Mary's. It was just a rather plain looking brick church....until we walked inside!!!! Oh my gosh...I was overwhelmed. This particular one was being "touched up" so there was a lot of scaffolding around, but it certainly did not distract from the awesome beauty before us.

and one of the many beautiful statues adorning the church. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to view the other 3 churches, but it has gone down in my bucket list for a return trip to Texas.
